British Sugar partners with IT Vizion to implement AVEVA™ PI System™

British Sugar, the sole processor of the UK’s sugar beet crop, has partnered with IT Vizion to implement the AVEVA™ PI System™ as part of a data foundation layer for their Advanced Insight Centre (AIC). The AVEVA™ PI System™ enables calculations, event-frames and structuring of data into asset trees that can be leveraged by visualisation, notification, and self-service analytics systems.
The AIC will provide real-time situational awareness and analytics driven decision support across British Sugar’s four advanced manufacturing sites in the UK where sugar beet processing yields much more than sugar. Waste outputs from the sugar production process are transformed into valuable inputs for other industries, including bioethanol, renewable energy, electricity, aggregates, animal feed, topsoil and Limex.
