Managed Services – a Closer look

1 year ago in , (0 comments)

Just like your vehicle needs preventive maintenance – like regular oil changes – to keep it running smoothly, your computers also need preventive maintenance. Ever wondered, “What types of things do IT professionals do to prevent my computer from going down?” . A Managed Services provider, such as IT Vizion, we use a series of “Best Practices” for:

  • Spyware Protection and Removal
  • Virus Protection
  • Disk Drive Analysis
  • Security Patch Management
  • Application Usage
  • System Auditing
  • Backup and Disaster Recovery
  • User Policy Enforcement
  • Plus, a variety of other automated procedures to ensure your systems are running and your users are productive

These tasks can be automated on a daily, weekly or monthly schedule to ensure that they are completed and reported consistently without fail. These tasks allow us to gather data and spot trends and patterns that allow us to prevent potential problems and issues.

When a problem does occur, wouldn’t it be nice to get it fixed immediately?  Remote support makes this possible. By being able to access and fix your computer remotely, your IT professional can cut down on costs and downtime. No more wasted time waiting for the “computer guy” to arrive while he bills you for his travel time.

Managed Service Agreements not only enable you to control your expenditures by providing consistent service and costs, but they are used to enforce a certain Service Level Agreement that we must abide by. By consistently maintaining your systems, you will prevent major problems and costs from occurring. Your company will know how much you will be spending on IT each month – thereby avoiding surprise expenditures and billings.

Don’t Think About Your IT!

IT Vizion’s Newsletter – Small Business – May 2010

Can you believe that we are telling you not to think about your Information Technology (IT)?  Afterall, we are an IT company!  You would expect us to tell you to do more with your IT, right?  Actually, we want you to think about growing and attending to your core business, and let us do the IT thinking for you. In the end, saving you time, money and headaches!

Focus on your job, not your IT!

This is our mantra.  We want our customers to focus on growing their businesses, not worry about the nuts and bolts of IT.  How much time are you spending on tasks other than your job? How much time is wasted on trying to make your computer systems and network run smoothly, secured, backed up, or fix an IT problem? How about not knowing how much a problem is going to cost, or if the “fix” will break other things? What if you could take that time and apply it to activities that will grow your business and increase your revenues? That’s the place where we want you to be.

Outsourcing or co-sourcing your IT may be the solution.

  • If you have an in-house IT department, IT Vizion can help them be more “automated”, be that extended IT partner for those difficult issues to resolve, provide disaster recovery coverage, or assist on special projects. Through our automated platform, you can do a lot more without adding overhead. IT Vizion can also be there for augmentation in case of vacation or illness.
  • Still relying on the non-responsive, overworked, “computer guy” or some other IT company?  Getting nickeled and dimed, everytime?  Then why not look at outsourcing your entire IT department to us?  Outsorcing is a much more cost-effective solution than hiring a full-time IT staff, or relying on the “computer guy”. We not only keep your systems humming along, but also secured and updated, your employees productive and happy, all the while becoming your SPOC (single point of contact)!  This means eliminating the “finger pointing syndrome”.  We are the one and only vendor you will have to deal with – ever again.  Just listen to one of our many happy clients:

“You don’t really want to think about your IT, you just want it to work. With IT Vizion, I never worry about our systems. I focus on my job as vice president. Our company, like most others, relies heavily on technology. If it isn’t working, neither are we. We are more productive because we don’t experience downtime.”

All about consistency

2 years ago in (0 comments)

Small business and medium business look for ways to cut costs. A few areas that they traditionally focus on, are areas of the business that is beyond their core competency which they can outsource. These include information technology (IT), human resources (HR), and accounting (AP) to mention a few.

One way that IT outsourcing can cut costs is by simply providing a consistent systems and network management across the business. Whether a user is located at headquarters, at home, or over seas, they should expect their computer system to function the same – no matter where they are. By providing a consistent IT to their users, businesses boost employee productivity.

Unlike the competition, IT Vizion automates our customers technology environment, with a focus on consistency. Whether it’s the CEO or a warehouse worker, our customers should expect to be treated and managed in the same manner across the board.

How do we save you money?

3 years ago in , (0 comments)

You’ve been hearing us talk about cost savings.  But if you haven’t met us or haven’t had the opportunity to ask, you probably wonder how that’s accomplished.  So I wanted to give you a couple of examples how managed services from IT Vizion really saves you money.

Experienced Personnel - we don’t hire any entry-level personnel.  Rely on our experienced IT Specialists to support and maintain your systems and network,  minimizing your IT risks and providing experienced based IT management.

Specialized Skills - most companies find themselves lacking one skill or another required to efficiently manage their technology.  Long gone are the days of the “generalist”. Deal with a company that has different skill-sets available to fill-in any missing gaps.

Eliminate Training – compared to full-time in-house employee, we don’t require any additional funding for training. These costs are typically about $7,500 per year to keep up with the ever-changing IT field.

No Payroll Taxes – at least in California, these are currently as high as 18%.  So if you hire an entry-level person at $45,000 per year, expect to pay an additional $8,100 just in payroll taxes!

No Workers Compensation – we’re not on your payroll. So no need to pay for our Workers Comp coverage.

No Health Insurance – no need to offer nor pay for health-care coverage.  We’re not your employee.

No Sick or Vacation Time - therefore, expect continuous coverage from a team of IT professionals, and not a one person show.

Avoid Downtime, Increase Productivity – the whole idea behind our approach, is to avoid downtime completely, by being proactive. We have the tools and process to make this a reality. IT Vizion can prevent over 80% of the typical IT problems, by just doing our job right.

Besides the above condensed list of the cost benefits associated with managed services, think about this:   90% of IT problems can be resolved remotelyYes, 90%.  Only 10% of the time do companies actually need an on-site person.

Why not?

3 years ago in (0 comments)

Being at the helm of a company, I’m always looking for ways to make our organization more cost-effective and efficient.  That’s why I’m having a hard-time understanding why small and medium sized companies say “No” to managed services? Are they over-cautious about what aspects of their business they’ll outsource? Are they afraid to trust an outside provider? Or are they “just comfortable” with their current, less effective approach?

One thing is for sure, their Fortune 500 counterparts have figured out how to utilize BPO and IT outsourcing to their advantage.  They focus on running their profitable and growing business, while relying on outside expertise for specific functions.  This model has proved to be very efficient and cost-effective for these large firms.  So why haven’t more SMB’s taken advantage of it?  It could be that they don’t understand what managed services is all about or entails.  They may have the wrong perception that they have to “give up the farm”.  In a traditional outsourcing model that may be true, but not using managed services.

IT managed services provides SMB’s with a dedicated virtual IT department responsive to their every need. It is a combination of 24/7 monitoring of servers and critical services, ”one click” remote support, and on-site support without the transfer of any personnel or property.  The idea behind it is to save IT dollars (up to 60%) while providing a secure, performing and satisfactory employee computing environment.

If you’re a business leader that’s struggling with the managed services idea or have further questions, I encourage you to provide your comments below… Would love the opportunity to respond.
