PUFC, Inc.

People United for Christ, Inc (PUFC) is a not-for-profit evangelical organization. Located in Upland, California, PUFC has ministered worldwide through the use of television, publications, missions, crusades and direct mail.

The Situation

The direct-mail fundraising arm of the organization initially hired IT Vizion to develop a Java™ based software application, to increase data-entry productivity and streamline partner management. Nickolas Popoff, IT Manager for PUFC, said “I was impressed with IT Vizion’s balance of business knowledge and technology, as well as their customer-service-driven philosophy. That is why when [IT Vizion] approached me with their managed I.T. services package, I was excited to work with the company on an ongoing basis”.

PUFC’s information technology department needed management and automation assistance, so managed services was employed to seamlessly allow both PUFC’s current staff and IT Vizion’s engineers to handle the day-to-day helpdesk, database, network and systems administration effort. IT Vizion’s staff provides ‘as needed coverage’ and 3rd level support, while PUFC’s internal IT staff handles all of deskside, 1st level support. According to Nickolas, “having IT Vizion join our I.T. department has been extremely beneficial. They brought their automated systems, processes, expert knowledge, and skills needed to maintain, secure and help direct our I.T. needs.”

The Solution

IT Vizion’s Managed Services brought a proactive preventative approach to keep PUFC’s systems up and running, in multiple locations. Unlike the traditional “break/fix” approach, IT Vizion’s team and processes work around the clock trying to prevent computer, server and network problems in the first place. Through the use of Managed Services, PUFC’s network is monitored and all the essentials are managed on a 24/7 basis. This assures that their networked systems are less prone to downtime, and their employees are more productive.

Mr. Poppof’s favorite part about Managed Services is remote access. “Giving the IT Vizion staff the ability to remotely and securely access any of our computers has been a tremendous help. Problems are fixed much quicker and more cost effectively.”
